My husband and I are from Mobile and we eat at the Brick Pit every time we come home to visit. It's right up there with raw oysters and REAL seafood as a food crave I MUST satisfy before leaving the city. I really don't think that there is anywhere else in the world that can rival the Brick Pit's Bar-B-Que! Keep making us proud. We love ya'll and miss you more than you'll ever know!

I've found heaven on earth. If you like BBQ, this is where it's done RIGHT. The old fashion way - LOW AND SLOW. If you're going anywhere near Mobile, AL, this is a must stop.

We wanted to try real Southern barbeque and the Brick Pit was perfect! The pork sandwich was delicious with the slightly tangy, spicy sauce and the distinct smokey flavor of the pork. The banana pudding was phenomenal! Most of all, customer service was excellent, to the waitstaff and the owner who were all extremely friendly and attentive. The owner was very kind and courteous and made our experience there even greater by taking the time to talk to us. We will certainly eat here again the next time we come down to Mobile!

Moved out of Mobile back in 2000. What we miss most about Alabama is Brick Pit ribs..... There is just one word to describe these ribs..... "Swinging"

Serious Bar-B-Que, serious hospitality. Would travel to Mobile just to eat there (and I have family in the area). Celebrated my wife's birthday there this past November, and she couldn't have been happier! Hope you get a facebook page up soon! Will try to send you all a pic from our visit!

I have had my share of smoked, slow cooked pork side ribs....and these are by far the BEST I have ever had...or will ever have for that matter. Never have I been able to take ALL the meat of the bone....I was amazed! Bill was super nice and very eager to be of assistance with the road trip path my boyfriend and I were on. He made us feel welcome the way you would for guests visiting your home. THANKS Bill for sharing your passion for BarBQ with us Canadian folk!

Excellent Ribs! Not like any`I have had before. I've had ribs in the Carolinas, Memphis, Virginia, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Florida and My Home state of Kentucky and I must say that the flavor of them at the Brick Pit is unique...Delicious. When I am back in these parts I will return.

In 1999 The Brick Pit was a big inspiration in bringing Southern style BBQ to Holland. Almost 10 years later we operate our own BBQ catering business. Thank U guys for getting us started

Your BBQ stands alone. I only get back to Mobile once a year now that I am working in the Netherlands, but each journey home is that much sweeter sitting over a plate full of pulled pork and sweet tea. I have to stop. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. See you in early June!

I have been a Chef int the Mobile area for some fourteen years, and own a restaurant a mile away from the Brick Pit. I can tell you- no doubt, this man produces the best BBQ in the region. He is dogmatic in his approach and stellar with results. the restaurant is a halmark of Mobile. Make it a point to eat there.

Located on Old Shell Road, west of 65, the Brick Pit has been serving quality BBQ for 4 decades. The rustic, but friendly d￩cor inside welcomes you to a place where you can tell things are simple and tasty. The pulled pork plate is an ample amount of food for the hungry diner and includes your choice of regular or spicy BBQ sauce, a thick piece of Texas toast, and a choice of two side items. The chunks and strings of pork meat are succulent and flavorful. One can taste the effort made by pitmaster Bill Armbrecht in his large cooker behind the main building where he slow cooks all the meats at the lowest temperatures possible for plenty of time. The spicy sauce isnt what one would expect  just a little more flavor and kick, not a ton of heat. The coleslaw is crunchy and fresh with a nice vinegar base and the toast is a perfect complement to soak up the leftover sauce with when your meal is almost over. The Brick Pit offers a rotating line of desserts including the highly touted banana pudding. The dining room is small and somewhat limited, but the service is quick and efficient. After paying for your meal (all major credit cards accepted), a server will usher your food and drink out to your table. While the Brick Pit does not sell alcohol, they do allow BYOB and more than a few patrons are known to hoist a cold one with their BBQ.
